Who Is The Course Suitable For?

This course is suitable for Fashion Students who wish to gain a strong introduction to pattern cutting, for seamstresses who want to start creating their own patterns from their own designs or anyone with a genuine interest in pattern cutting and a willingness to learn.

What You Will Be Taught

The step-by-step course introduces you to the techniques for flat pattern cutting for womenswear. You will begin by drafting a standard dress block. You then learn the techniques for a range of styles meaning you can create your own designs; manipulating darts, adding style lines, creating a range of sleeve styles, different collars, necklines and skirts.

At the end of the week there is some freedom as to what you do next, including drafting your own bespoke dress block that will fit you perfectly. From this you can go on to draft your own patterns using the techniques you have learned on the course or you can receive help working on a specific piece.

You leave with a folder of comprehensive instructions for a range of techniques with paper examples that you will refer to again and again.
